This hike will be about 3 miles at a comfortable pace of 2 to 2.5 ish mph.
There are some decently long inclines throughout the cemetery but we will take it easy. This is a pavement hike and we will go off path a couple times.
There are a lot of well known people who are laid to rest here. Erma Bombeck, The Wright Brothers, Paul Laurence Dunbar, Colonel Deeds and more.
We'll stop at a few interesting graves and I have a little info I'll tell you about them.
You can park outside the gates as there are a few parking spots or you can come inside the gates, as I'm going to do, and park on the street.
We will first go into the Mausoleum for about 15 minutes to see some beautiful marble walls and view the "Windows of the World" stained glass windows.
Then we will make our way around the grounds.
Do you know that the highest point in Dayton is located here in the cemetery?
WAIT UNTIL YOU SEE THIS VIEW! YOU WON'T BELIEVE IT!!
Meet me at the entrance just inside the gates.
We will finish up in the cemetery by about 5:30 as it will be starting to get dark.
After the hike let's go to The Silos for some food. It's very cool!!
