Let's get together and explore the unique neighborhoods and areas that Dayton and vicinity have to see!
For this Urban Hike we are doing a 2 part event!
1.) Heritage Celebration at Great Council State Park in Xenia
2.) The Indigenous Festival at
Patricia Allen Park in Springboro
YOU DON'T HAVE TO DO BOTH! Just do one or both.

Both event locations are simply beautiful!
These event locations are 23 miles apart, about 30 minutes. Plan to drive or carpool.
Stop #1
Have you been to the Great Council State Park? It's so well done! The Interpretative Center tells many stories of Indegenous tribes that resided in our area!
The walking trail on the property is full of wild flowers, bees, birds, the river and more! It's a flat easy walk that is about 1 mile.
There will be an event inside the center but they don't have an actual schedule yet.

Let's plan to stay here a couple hours. But that will be flexible.
Bring your lunch as there are some picnic tables wherewe can sit and eat.

The Indegenous Festival at Patricia Allen Park in Springboro

First this park is HUGE and very beautiful! There is a small trail there so let's check it out.
I went to this festival last year and it was very cool. Lots of Native American musicians, vendors and food. There was a fun drum circle and some fire dancers also.
Have you ever been to a drum circle? So relaxing and fun! They usually have a few extra things to drum but please if you have a drum bring it!
You can also bring a box of macaroni to shake, spoons, drum sticks, morracas, bells, kazoos, pots and pans... ANY WAY YOU CAN CREATE SOME NOISE!
Both of these events are kid friendly and I may bring my cutie granddaughter who is 7.
FYI: This is the day of the Twin Valley Trail challenge. I'm aware many of the Dayton Hikers will be doing some or all of the TVT and I wish you the best for that!
