Urban Hike: "The Neighborhoods"
Details
Let's get together and explore the unique neighborhoods and areas that Dayton and vicinity have to offer!
FYI: I ORIGINALLY HAD THIS FOR FRIDAY, MARCH 27TH... but of course the weather just changed again.
THURSDAY is looking like very warm temps (75) and slight rain compared to Friday rain and 48°. Bring your umbrella in case.
Let's walk the Cherry Blossom Trail!
THIS ONE IS TIME SENSITIVE AS WE ONLY HAVE A SMALL WINDOW OF TIME BEFORE THE BLOOMS DISAPPEAR!
I have spoken to Mr. Alex Hara who started the planting of the trees in Dayton in 2012. This is his thank you to the city for their help bringing supplies into the country of Japan during and after the devastating 2011 earthquake and tsunami. Over 25,000 people were killed within minutes.
The city, along with the Wright Patterson Air Force Base, helped gather many many blankets, food, clothing and much more and delivered them.
To this day he has planted over 1700 Cherry Trees in different areas of the city.

He will be planting more this spring and I told him we could possibly help.
Unfortunately he's not able to be with us this week to tell his story. But he did tell me I needed to do the walk/hike in the next few days. He said Thursday or Friday would be best.
Here's the schedule for Thursday:
1.) Everyone meet me at the Dayton Art Institute at 10:30am. I'm going to park on the street. We will need to take several cars and carpool to Carillon Park. Then leave the rest of the cars here.
2.) Carpool over to Carillon. (Will you help with your car?) I can take 4.
3.) Arrive at Carillon and eat lunch at Culps Cafe. Arrival 10:45am.

4.) Begin walking after lunch, back to the DAI. Approximate start time for walking will be 12 noon. We will leave the cars that we rode over in there at Carillon
5.) The Cherry Blossom walk is 3.4 miles back to DAI.
6.). Get in the cars there at the DAI and ride back to Carillon to get the other cars.
Hopefully the blooms will be out in full . I did check on them today and they are starting to bloom. I asked Mr. Hara if I could wait until it wasn't so chilly or no rain in the forecast(this week's weather) and he said no, and even Sunday will be too late.
I drive a Green Chevrolet Equinox with black wheels.
