Saturday is The Biggest Day hike on the Buckeye trail. ( https://www.buckeyetrail.org/biggest-day-hike )

I’ve decided to hike a loop from mile marker 25 of the Great Miami Recreation Trail ( https://maps.app.goo.gl/xdbQJq7NZvBdzZTr6?g_st=ic ) back to mile 21.4 where the trail adjoins the Rip Rap Shakeshack. ( https://www.facebook.com/riprapshakeshack/ ) and back.

The trail is wooded and parallels the Great Miami River for the first 1.5 miles. The hike crosses the Great Miami on a pedestrian bridge and goes under Little York road. The trail then runs between the river and a flood plain without shade for about 1.5 miles. A hat, sunscreen, and water are especially recommended for this section.

We should arrive at the Shake Shack at 2:15 and will head back at 2:45; returning to our cars at 4.

This 2.8 mph pace may be slow for younger hikers, but is perfect for those of us babying our joints while getting our steps in.

Since I weigh 180lbs Google says I will burn 721 calories on this hike. I plan on replenishing them all with a banana split.
