Let's go for a ~5-mile, brisk pace (~3 mph) adventure through Grant Park and explore the new park trails. We'll enjoy the cool morning air, which is a welcome relief from our recent 90-degree heat wave.
Many changes have been made to the trails and more changess are coming. 🌱🌿 🍃

We’ll stitch together the yellow, brown, blue, and red trails—plus a few lesser-known paths—to create a spaghetti route with minimal backtracking and maximum variety. Expect a mix of shady woods, open meadows, and those quiet “hidden” sections that make this park such a local gem.

The route is mostly flat with a couple of short hills.

No pets. One guest permitted.

Recommended equipment: Trekking poles, rain jacket.

Description of Park: Grant Park is a 187-acre natural area. Trails in the park lead along creeks and through meadow, forest, prairie, and wetland habitats. The trails are of varying difficulty; some follow ridge lines or bottom lands, while others climb fairly steep hills.

A Friendly Guide to Sharing the Trails: As we hike, we'll be sharing the path with others. To ensure a peaceful experience for everyone, let's be mindful of how we communicate. Instead of loud call-outs, let's use quiet voices and enjoy the sounds of nature. 🐦 When encountering others, we can simply move to the right to let them pass. ➡️ If someone is coming up behind our group, a quiet message passed up the line works perfectly. There's no need to yell, stop or leave the trail entirely; just making a little space is all that's needed for everyone to share the path gracefully. ⚜️
