What we’re about
The DC Area Drone User Group (DC DUG) is an organization for amateur and professional drone users that seeks to promote the responsible use of flying robots for community service, artistic, entrepreneurial, and recreational purposes. All experience levels are welcome. We get together as a community to share tips, experiences, and of course to do some flying. We work to educate ourselves about how to build and use drones in a safe and respectful manner and to educate the public about the positive role aerial robotics can play in our society. Most importantly, we think that flying robots are a lot of fun! DC DUG is a member of the Drone User Group Network, an association of community organizations that promote the use of civilian drone technology for the benefit of humanity.

See all- Robotic and Autonomous Systems: Intro to Feedback Controls - Open LearningNew Makerspace - (RSC), Rockville, MD
Join us for a special talk by a fantastic mechanical engineer Kaan Beyduz. Kaan will provide our group with an introduction to control systems, with a particular focus on feedback controls. Control systems affect tons of projects, including anything with motion, or systems that are regulated.
From robotic arms and drones to autonomous vehicles, feedback control is the cornerstone of modern robotics.
We are planning on a multi-part series. In this series you’ll explore how to design, model, and build systems to accomplish specific tasks or missions.
Our first workshop will focus on modeling a real-world use case, utilizing feedback data to design a control strategy, and analyzing system responses to assess mission success. The material is tailored for hobbyists, requiring no prior experience—just a passion for learning and experimentation. All backgrounds, skill levels, and active learners are welcome to this amazing presentation.
Kaan has a masters in mechanical engineering from Berkeley, and you can checkout one of his funky/cool control systems here:
