DARPA Triage Challenge Flight Trial
Details
Hello members and Team Guardian Angel. We’re jumping straight into the deep end of tactical edge robotics.
Sunday morning, our DARPA challenge team is running live flight trials to clear our official safety qualification gate for the DARPA Triage Challenge. We are solving a medical triage problem and building an edge-deployed, real-time vital signs and mass casualty triage platform designed to operate on-drone in contested, bandwidth-denied environments—moving beyond latency-heavy cloud architectures directly to tactical autonomy.
Come watch live flights, see how mission-critical flight safety testing works, and nerd out on defense tech, autonomous edge perception, and UAS hardware.
Event Details
- Date & Time: Sunday at 10:00 AM
- Location: Building Momentum (The Garden) — 5380 Eisenhower Ave, Suite C, Alexandria, VA
- Hosted by: DC Area Drone User Group
What We’re Doing
- DARPA Safety Qualification Filming: Capturing mandatory unlisted flight demonstration videos required by DARPA prior to competition day. You'll see structured testing covering vehicle stability, fail-safes, and controlled flight envelope verifications.
- NDAA Compliance Breakdown: Battlefield medical solutions require strict supply-chain integrity. We’ll walk through what it takes to build and fly an NDAA-compliant UAS—covering approved component origins, flight controllers, RF links, and secure sensor payloads.
- Edge AI & Computer Vision Architecture: Discussion on migrating triage computer vision, physiological signature detection (respiratory rate, pulse, and visual trauma triage), and onboard inference from pipelines directly onto edge compute modules.
Whether you fly FPV, build custom autonomous platforms, develop computer vision, or just want an inside look at a DARPA challenge prep session, join us tomorrow morning.
