Otter Creek Trail Maintenance + Backpacking!

Otter Creek is one of my favorite (and lesser used) Wilderness areas. Information on it is here:

Please click on and print a copy of the Otter Creek Wilderness Brochure along with the trail map and bring them with you.

We will do trail maintenance while staying at Bear Heaven Campground for free and you will get to learn how beautiful an area it truly is with wild and wonderful waterfalls, and great brook trout fishing in a deeply forested setting.

June 27th- arrive at Bear Heaven Campground around 10:30 to 11:30PM and set up camp. I will send out an email with directions and our campsite location, and have a campfire going for the group.

June 28th - we will drive to our trail head and work on clearing brush on the chosen trail and learn some of the secrets of this beautiful area. Much of the hike is along Otter Creek, so opportunities to swim if you want. If the weather is agreeable, we can also backpack into a camp on the creek or stay at Bear Heaven with a group dinner and campfire.

June 29- Pack up, and drive home.

Remember we will be out of cell range, so if you need to contact me, do so by noon on Friday June 27, as I will go to camp early.

I pushed this event back a week so we can enjoy more of the abundant rhododendron blooms, so hope you can make it for a relaxed weekend in a gorgeous wilderness area while we give back to the greater outdoor community and support the Forest Service!
