Jazz and blues fans of all ages and stages (rookie to veteran listener/performer) are welcome to this Meetup group devoted to seeking out and attending great jazz and blues concerts throughout the National Capital Region.
We attend a range of venues and events, from pricey to free, mostly in and around downtown DC, with occasional forays into the ‘burbs. If you love jazz and blues, but would prefer to enjoy it with others, this group is for you. If you are new to this music, you’ll find this a great way to learn more about it, and to hear more of it.
This is the city in which the ever-elegant composer, pianist, and bandleader Edward Kennedy “Duke” Ellington was born, to which jazz and blues giants have always flocked, and from which a new generation of young lions and lionesses are emerging into the music scene. Monuments, museums, and marbled halls of power are all an essential part of the DC landscape, but so too are the city's many jazz and blues hot spots.
Join us to listen to live music, support local artists, and have a good time in venues large and small.
Please note that there is one type of person who is not welcome and may get booted: the person who signs up for an event but fails to show up. You are more than welcome to join this group and use it to keep track of cool jazz and blues events around town, but please do not sign up for any event until and unless you are committed to attending, and please give up your spot the moment your plans change.
