Details
Let's visit the Frederick Douglass home and explore the neighborhood. Frederick Douglass, born into slavery, escaped on the Underground Railroad to later become one of the most influential people in America, thanks to his oratory skills. He championed African Americans and women. We'll see a film and have a National Park Ranger-led tour of the home.
At a local cafe, Busboys and Poets, we can learn about another important Washingtonian, Marion Barry, while we chat over coffee.
We'll meet at the Frederick Douglass Historic Home and walk from there to Busboys and Poets and the NEW GoGo Music Museum, ending at the Anacostia Metro Station.
Wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
