Details

We got tix! Since its grand opening in 2016, the museum has attracted large crowds, necessitating timed-entry tickets to this day. Here's your chance to finally experience it. David Adjaye, the architect, wanted to create a design that transforms the museum from a viewing experience into a narrative experience. He’d like visitors to walk away feeling as though they’ve been on a journey. Our journey begins five hundred years ago with the emergence of the Transatlantic Slave Trade, which transformed Africa, Europe, and the Americas. We'll move on to the era of emerging freedom and the segregation era. Then, we'll move into the post-segregation era of 1968 and beyond. Finally, we'll explore some of the community and culture galleries. It's a lot to take in, but you'll come away from this journey with a deeper appreciation of American history and its people.
