Join us for our monthly meetup! This month’s speaker is Karen Arthur giving their talk: Protecting Main Street from Malware: A Cyber Briefing for busy leaders.

Cyber incidents and attacks are an increasingly common occurrence, especially on critical public entities that we rely on every day. “It won’t happen to us” is no longer something we can afford to tell ourselves-because the real question more often than not is not if but when. This talk will give you an overview of the current state of cyber threats in the state of Wisconsin, as well as who is being targeted. You will also learn about some of the favorite TTPs (Tactics, Techniques and Procedures) cybercriminals use and why they are effective. Finally, you will learn about real-world practical tips and strategies that you can use to keep your communities (and yourselves!) safe.

Karen Arthur is a Cybersecurity Engineer on the Enterprise Infrastructure Security Team at
Northwestern Mutual. She got her start in IT working in county government and continues
to support the mission of cybersecurity in the public sector through her work as an Incident
Responder with the Wisconsin Cyber Response Team. She is passionate about sharing the
importance of security and how everyone can contribute to that mission, regardless of your
role. In addition, Karen enjoys learning about emerging technologies and the benefits (and
new security challenges!) they can bring.
