DC Nightowls Project Night w/ Compass Coffee Co-Founder Harrison Suarez

Welcome to DC's after hours community of bright minded self-starters working on interesting projects. This is our first online meetup and we're excited to have Washingtonian Harrison Suarez joining us.

Harrison is a Co-Founder of Compass Coffee, entrepreneur, ReactJS/MeteorJS developer, & our collaborator this evening. He will share a few founder stories pre and post venture formation, his challenges during the covid-19 pandemic, napkin ideas to pilot prototypes, and open it up for Q&A.

Agenda:

• Warm Up; 7:30pm-8pm; Grab your beverage, settle into the conference call, take part in some banter, work on your own project.
• Official Start; 8pm-9pm; 30 second intros around the room, followed by founder stories from Harrison.
• Open Forum; 9pm-11pm; Design Thinking group sessions or individual project coworking.

** For Intros, we will go around the virtual room and state our name, our project tonight, and how we can help others. We also accept announcements of new job ops and community events, but NO sales pitches are allowed.

Additional Information:

Compass Coffee (https://shop.compasscoffee.com) is an American coffee roaster and cafe chain based in Washington, D.C. It was founded in 2014 by Michael Haft and Harrison Suarez (https://compasscoffee.com/about-us), and currently has several locations, including one active roasting facility.

Haft and Suarez, both native Washingtonians, decided to begin the company following their return to the city after leaving active duty in the Marine Corps. The flagship cafe opened in July 2014 in the Shaw neighborhood of Washington. This location also houses the company’s main roaster and production center as well as offices. Following the first location, Compass built another cafe in the same neighborhood, opening in September, 2015. Compass opened more shops in DC.

In October of 2017, Compass Coffee founders Haft and Suarez received the District of Columbia Chamber of Commerce’s Community Impact Award at the 2017 Chamber’s Choice Gala.
