Cinco de Mayo Fun Dive / Paintball Weekend at Lake Phoenix (Rain or Shine)

Hola Amigos and Amigas. Are you ready to celebrate Cinco de Mayo Diver style? Join your DC/VA/MD area Scuba friends & family at Lake Phoenix, Rawlings Virginia on May 5th and 6th to ring in the 2018 Dive Season. This is a family friendly diver/non-diver friendly 2 day event. Day one includes a morning safety brief at our dive meet-up pavilion (TBD), fun diving, few guided dives, a couple free Scuba clinics, non-dive activities like volleyball, horseshoes, evening BBQ, Bonfire with S’mores and your choice of beverage (BYOB), music (bring a guitar if you have skills) and good company. Day 2 starts with a hearty breakfast, and culminates with 2 hours of paintball and/or more fun diving. Need a refresher/tune-up, interested in upgrading your certification or looking for a new specialty, there may be instructors that you can pre-coordinate with prior to trip and build into your weekend plan - ask me for details.

How much does it cost? Based on my discussions with the Park staff, I will cover all cost and you can pay me before or day of arrival that way I can possibly spread some of the savings to the group with the punch card system.
Here are approximate prices based on what you decide to do and if we have good numbers:
$7.00/Day for Visitors (Non-Divers)
$25.00/Day for Park Entry No Tank/ No Air (Good if you bring your own tanks). Airfills are $8.50 if you bring your own tank.
$40.00/Day for Park Entry/Tank/Unlimited Air
$11.00/Day for Camp Site No Electricity - If you need a campsite w/Electricity, you must reserve online ahead of time.
$30/Person for 2 hours of Paintball on Sunday.

Tent, Pop-ups, RVs, your vehicle are all options at this campground. If military, check out your local MWR for camping gear options at reasonable rates. In addition, there are a few hotels within 30 miles of the park – one is 5 minutes and offers bare basic comforts.

Meals Update: Here is what I plan to coordinate for.
Saturday Lunch - Sandwiches, Chips, Fruit, Potatoe Salad
Saturday Dinner - BBQ Cinco de Mayo style (Chicken, Beef, Shrimp Fajitas, Dogs) Sunday Breakfast - Breakfast Burritos, Eggs, Pancakes, Links, Yogurt, Fruit, Juice
I will shop for everything and ask for around $20/adult - $10/child under 13 for all three meals. Bring snacks and other foods/beverages as you wish. (Shopping Completed Last Night).

Possible Fun Events: land/underwater photo contest Saturday, photos to be shared and voted on Saturday night / "Tropical Fish" Scavenger Hunt Sunday.

Paintball Add-0n Option: $30/person - Requested the Paintball Field from 9-11 Sunday. All gear/paintballs included. 10 yrs and older. Must complete waivers and watch video prior to arrival.

LEGAL: Online Park Waiver and Mandatory Video needs to be completed/watched prior to our trip - NLT 4 May Please. Takes 10 minutes and your good for the season! I will poll everyone a week out to make sure this is complete to avoid delays and charges day of arrival.

You do not have to do both days - weekend is yours so choose what works best for you. I will probably go up Friday evening to set-up and you’re welcome to do so as well. Plan is to exit park NLT 3:00 p.m. on Sunday to avoid crazy Sunday traffic – that said, you can come and go as you please.
