Greetings divers and non-divers! Let the Dive Season Begin!!!!
Are you ready to dive or just hang with people that have a passion for diving? Getting ready for a trip - like Moorehead City? Want to dust off gear? Join your Washington Area Scuba Club friends & family at Lake Phoenix, Rawlings Virginia on 28-29 Aug. This is a family friendly diver/non-diver 2+ day event. On Friday, I will be setting up and conducting courses in the afternoon. You can come as early as Friday or anytime during the weekend - whatever works best for your schedule. We will kick-off Saturday morning with a light breakfast, safety briefing and park orientation followed by diving, a light lunch and more diving. If you plan to camp, we will also have a club dinner and some campfire shenanigans. If you are camping and require electricity, reserve early via Lake Phoenix Website as outlets are limited. I will have electricity for general charging of devices and camp lights.
I plan to arrive Friday to set-up and conduct a few classes. If you plan to arrive Friday to camp only and will be arriving after hours, FILL OUT THEIR ONLINE LATE ARRIVAL REQUEST prior to day of. Put in notes that WASC Group Organizer is covering camping fees. I plan to depart by 4 p.m. Sunday (subject to change).
Depending on interest, there will be one or two guided dives for those not familiar with the quarry, and a scheduled Saturday night dive as well.
Quar-a-bbean Water temp is a tropical 80 Degrees at surface, 76 at 10 feet, 72 at 25 feet and 53 on the bottom as of 24 June (per website). I anticipate much higher temps Late Aug.
Cost: I will use my punch cards to cover groups cost (Camping/Visitors/Entry/Air). You will reimburse me at end of event based on what you chose to do for the day(s). See online prices and figure around 10% savings depending on group size. I will contact each of you to get your intentions for the weekend. Also, I will need to know if you are bringing tanks or will need me to rent one for you.
$40 Event Fee will be added to your final bill. This will go towards fees paid by the organizer to support the logistics and various charges to support this event - pavilion rental (if available), golf cart to shuttle tanks, ice for coolers and breakfast/lunch items for Saturday/Sunday.
