Curacao Dive Trip - A December Trip

Details

Curacao is a sister island to Bonaire. Roughly 50 miles from Bonaire, it shares similar traits, both above water and below. For instance both have fringing reefs close to shore which makes them ideal for shore diving.
One difference is that Curacao’s shore diving tends to have easier entries and exits from sandy beaches, which generally does not describe Bonaire’s entry and exits. Further out, reefs are easily accessible by boat, so we are planning a mixture of shore diving and boat diving….the best of both worlds.

Some of the best diving is over at the island of Klein Curacao. We are working on an add-on trip to Klien.

As far as reef life, I was there a few years ago and the reef was still alive and every bit as good as Bonaire. If you missed this year’s Bonaire Trip, you definitely want to make this one.

Curacao’s capital is much larger than Bonaire’s, with many interesting landmarks to visit, including the fish market, the swing bridge, and its protecting forts. We will plan a dinner in one of these forts, overlooking the town and the entire island. Unlike its other Sister, when you are in Curacao's capital you feel like you are in Denmark.
We will be staying on the West End at West Punt, which is where the best shore diving is located. We will do a combination of Shore Diving and Boat Diving. The trip is flexible so you get to decide how much of each you want to do.
We will stay at the Bed and Bike in West Punt, which is within walking distance of the primary dive shop we will use, Go West Diving. Bed and Bike has a very nice swimming pool and access to the beach. It has a variety of room types:

  • Air Conditioned Tents Sleep 1 and are $50 per night/$416.50 per week.
  • Classic Twin Room sleeps 2 in separate twin beds and runs $135.00 per night for the room. Assuming we have someone to bunk with you, this works out to $$562.28 per person for a week.
  • Classic Queen sleeps one or 2 in a Queen Bed. It is also $135 per night, so it is $1,124.55 for one person or $562.28 per person if there are 2 in the room.
  • The Delux Queen has a kitchenette and a balcony or patio, along with a queen bed. It runs $195.00 per night. This breaks out to $1,624.35 if you are by yourself, or $812.18 per person if you split with someone else.

Additional costs:
3 Days of 2 Tank Morning Boat Dives on air: $345.00, which also includes tanks for shore diving when we return. We will add this to your room rate to get your amount. You can add additional boat dives or shore dives once we decide what our dive mix will look like as a group.
