MASTER OF CEREMONIES/HOST
Our MC for the evening will be the fantastic Akanksha Malik of Paths Uncovered!
Akanksha is a Data Scientist, a Microsoft AI MVP, and an international speaker. We're very happy to welcome her back to MC for us again!SPEAKERS
A million ways to get hacked on the web: Matthew Gribben of SignalVision
The general premise of the talk is a whistle stop tour of different kinds of vulnerabilities in software, covering things like SQL injection, buffer overflows, etc and how we use these to escalate the level of compromise. Including, hopefully, some live demos of these attacks.Dates gone wrong: Emmanuel Tissera
Dates are hard. No, not the ones you dress up and go and have dinner! I'm talking about dates like 2-12-2007. If remembering your anniversary is hard, understanding dates in various contexts and presenting them to users is even harder. Let's look at best practices, localisation and at peeps who are doing it well. This will be an interactive session with lots of audience participation. The Time I Broke our Most Popular Deployment Tool: Zoe Higgins
I did what I thought was the scariest thing imaginable, break something in production, and came out of it alive. This is a story of my prod mess, my discovery and my learnings on the way.
(Pitched to those on the tech tools, and anyone who fears their first big work mistake)Finite State Machines, the 70 year old hip and trendy technology: Erwin van der Koogh

After a 5-year hiatus, DDD Melbourne is back in 2024!
DDD Melbourne is an inclusive, non-profit full-day conference for the software community – Developers, Designers, Data professionals, DevOps engineers; basically any Doers in the tech space!
Our goal is to create an approachable event that appeals to the whole community, especially people who don’t usually have the opportunity to attend, or speak at, conferences. The conference is run on a Saturday and strives to be inclusive of everyone in the Melbourne tech community.
We follow the guiding principles adhered to by many different DDD chapters around the world:
- It is a free/low-cost event
- It is held on a Saturday
- We have an open submissions process for speakers
- We have a democratically chosen agenda
- We create a safe and inclusive environment where everyone is welcome
- We provide free childcare options for the duration of the main conference.
Join us on Saturday, 16 March 2024 at the Melbourne Town Hall.
