Wardley Mappellathon 🗺️

# DDD Belgium Meetup – Wardly Mappellathon 🗺️
We only have 30 places for external people, so please keep your RSVPs up-to-date!
At our Summer Modellathon, we got our hands dirty with collaborative modelling and explored a domain together using Big Picture EventStorming.
This time, we’re switching perspectives.
Let’s learn Wardley Mapping! 🗺️
Wardley Mapping gives us a way to look beyond the structure of a domain and explore its strategic landscape: understanding user needs, mapping value chains, seeing how components evolve, and using that information to have better conversations about strategy and where to go next.
And we’re not just going to talk about it — we’re going to create maps ourselves.
## 🇩🇰 Our guide for the evening: Christian Johansen
We’re very happy to welcome Christian Johansen, who is travelling from Denmark especially to join us for this DDD Belgium meetup.
Christian is an experienced practitioner of Wardley Mapping and collaborative approaches to understanding complex systems and strategy. Rather than giving us a purely theoretical introduction, Christian will guide us through the fundamentals and help us gain practical experience creating and discussing Wardley Maps ourselves.

Whether you’ve created dozens of Wardley Maps or have absolutely no idea what a Wardley Map is, you’re welcome. No previous Wardley Mapping experience is required.
## 🎯 What will we do?
The goal of the evening is simple:
Learn Wardley Mapping by actually doing Wardley Mapping.
We’ll start with an introduction to the essential concepts and then move into hands-on exercises where we’ll work together, create maps, discuss what we see, challenge assumptions, and learn from each other.
Expect sticky notes, discussions, questionable first maps, discoveries, remapping, and probably a few “Ahhh... now I see it!” moments.
This is not a conference talk. Come prepared to participate.
## 🗓️ Agenda
18:00 – 18:30 — Pizza & Networking 🍕
Grab some food, meet fellow DDD practitioners and get ready for the evening.
18:30 – 18:45 — Welcome & Introduction
A short welcome from DDD Belgium and an introduction to the evening.
18:45 – 19:15 — Introduction to Wardley Mapping 🗺️
Christian introduces the core concepts behind Wardley Mapping and gives us enough knowledge to start mapping.
19:15 – 21:30 — Hands-on Wardley Mapping 🚀
Time to put the theory into practice. We’ll work collaboratively on Wardley Maps, compare perspectives and learn through doing.
21:30 – 22:00 — Wrap-up & Discussion
What did we discover? What was difficult? And how could we use Wardley Mapping in our own organisations?
22:00 — 22:30 Drinks & Networking 🍻
The agenda is still being fine-tuned and may change slightly.
## 👥 Who should join?
Developers, software architects, product owners, business analysts, domain experts, engineering managers — or anyone interested in DDD, collaborative modelling, strategy and making sense of complex systems.
You don't need any previous experience with Wardley Mapping.
Just bring your curiosity. We’ll provide the rest. 🙂
See you there!

We look forward to seeing you there!
