Hello DDDers,

Join us for a fascinating exploration of Domain-Driven Design, complexity, and the timeless philosophy of Aristotle.

We're excited to welcome Niko Kokkinos, a seasoned Solutions Architect, AWS Community Builder, and co-organizer of the Domain-Driven Design meetup in Cologne. Niko will share his insights on navigating organizational complexity, drawing from his experience and his lifelong study of Aristotle's philosophy.

Special Event: Aitherion Field Trip (08 November)

On the day after the meetup, we'll have an optional field trip to Aitherion, a fascinating venue exploring Greek philosophy. Join us for a virtual deep dive and drinks afterwards. Buy on your own the ticket and let us know, or just meet us there!

Talk (07 November)

In this talk, personal insights from within an organisation are shared to illustrate how to navigate complexity, especially during the transition from the startup phase to stages of stabilisation and expansion.
Additionally, we will explore the following questions:

  • How has Aristotle’s Philosophy come to light? Has the human understanding of Aristotle’s philosophy evolved over time? How is it perceived today?
  • Which aspects from Domain-Driven Design and Team Topologies are relevant to this talk?
  • As a seed, an ancient architectural form is selected. How does it relate to organisational dynamics and technical integration architecture in the cloud?
  • What is the meaning of Logos in Aristotle’s philosophy, and how does it relate to becoming, essence, topos, imagination, and temperance (arete)?
  • What does Aristotle teach us about the impact of cognitive load, and in what context does he write about automation and AI?
  • Can engineers expand their knowledge into philosophy, and in what regard? What opportunities exist in Athens and online today?

References to relevant literature, ongoing work, and philosophy events in Athens will be provided throughout the discussion, where needed.

Note: This talk will be in Greek!
