## Intent and Impact: Driving Architecture Reviews for Business Success

Software Architecture reviews is a topic that rarely gets discussed at conferences, and equally rarely covered in books and blog posts. Writing and presenting your first review is a rite of passage for an architect; you never know when you may be in a situation where one is needed.
In this talk you will see how a modern architecture review is performed. We aren’t talking about word documents that will never again see the light of day, we are talking about creating reusable knowledge management artefacts that the team will build on going forward. Think of it like a spring clean for software architecture, where the content of the review has evolved, just like domain-driven design and the role of an architect has.
Don’t think you’ll ever need to complete one? They are a useful exercise while on-boarding in a new team and learning a new product.
Have you run a well-architected framework review? You will be surprised at the differences.

### About Steven

Software Architect @ The Ministry of Software Design
Steve works with clients modernising and transforming their IT estate, helping teams on enterprise, solution and technical architecture topics. He started his career in devops, and then as a developer moved through team leadership into being an “accidental architect” (this is a real role, but an imaginary title). Now an intentional architect, Steve is an active blogger and organiser of Domain-Driven Design London, a socio-technical & systems architecture community.

## Technology is Necessary but not Sufficient

Every organisation has many problems to be solved. However, too many organisations are lured into tackling every single problem - including those that should never be solved. This can sooner distract an organisation into bankruptcy, rather than create any lasting benefit. We’ve seen this in the form of transformations falling short, and new technology rarely creating the expected bottom-line benefits.
This talk aims to help anyone find and focus organisational improvement on only what matters to unlock the - often untapped - bottom-line benefits of change.
