Gentle end of the week – half hour only - Online exercise class and chat after
Gentle end of the week – half hour only - Online exercise class and chat after
This exercise session is aimed at people over 50. Our exercises are gentle but effective. There will be no floor exercises in this session, but you can expect to work hard! Not exercised for a while? Painful knees or hips? Or just like to end your week with some gentle movement? This class will be a great place to start. No fast, jerky movements, but this will still be a good workout for all levels. Beginners and experienced participants are equally welcome. We will combine chair exercises with standing exercises, designed to strengthen your muscles to help support your joints and improve your balance and flexibility. We will end this session with a chat, just making time to check in with each other and discuss the week and the weekend ahead. • ca 1.5x1.5 meter space to move around. • tablet, laptop or computer screen with internet connection • two water bottles, cans, or small hand weights • a straight kitchen or dining room chair without armrests. My rates 10 session card: My normal rate is £89 for 10 sessions. (different rates apply for my Parkinson’s classes) Pay monthly: Sign up for unlimited sessions per week, for a flat rate of £70 per month if paid monthly in advance. Pay What Works: The price shown above is the “true” value of the session that best reflects the work I put into preparing and leading your session. However, I understand that not everyone can afford to pay full price, and I don’t want that to stop you from joining us. In an effort to find a balance between more financial accessibility and sustainable pricing, I now offer a “Pay What Works” model. This allows for financial flexibility while still valuing and respecting the work and energy I provide in creating and delivering these classes. You tell me what you would like to pay: For your new payment, please let me know if you are happy to pay full price, or if you would like a reduction Please send an email to ailien@fitandhappyoutdoors.com with the heading “INVOICE please”- followed by “FAHO 1” to pay full price as quoted below, “FAHO 2”, for 20% off, or “FAHO 3” for 50% off. And please tell me if you want to pay for 10 sessions, or if you’d like to pay monthly. I prefer payment by bank transfer. At the moment I do not accept cheques. The queues by the banks are just too long. When you sign up, I will send you the link and the password you will need to join this session! Like many others my work has been severely affected by the Corona quarantine, when it stopped my normal work from one day to the next. As I am self employed, I have no other means of income. By joining this class you help me pay my bills, and I appreciate that enormously!

Creative Writing Friday Workshops
Creative Writing Friday Workshops
CORONA VIRUS UPDATE: Take advantage of social distancing by focusing on creative endeavors! These workshops are a wonderful way to stay inspired and connected from the safety of your home. They will now be taking place via Zoom and an RSVP will give you the link to join. If you're curious about writing, now is the time to join our workshops. We have openings in two groups, one meeting Wednesday evenings 6:30 to 9:30 pm and the other Friday mornings 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. In our healthy future we will meet at my home in Temescal District, Oakland as well as long distance participants online. You are invited to come to a workshop, for free, and find out how well it works for you. These groups have been meeting for forty years. We combine insights from Dorothea Brandt's Becoming a Writer (1934) and Peter Elbow's Writing Without Teachers (1973). We use inspired guidance from Diane di Prima's "Rant" from Pieces of a Song (2001), which proposes that we, each of us, come into this world with our own cosmology. This cosmology is a birthright and needs no alteration. Our writer's journey involves finding our view of the world, giving it respect, developing it, and expressing it in its own terms. Much inspired writing comes from these workshops. Many writers have opened doors into huge arenas of vivid stories, poems, essays, and novels they had no idea exist. Many of our participants have become published authors, including one American Book Award winner. Why do these groups work? Because we embrace the creative unconscious as the source of our inspiration, in accordance with Carl Jung's vision. And we give it simple appreciation. In these groups your first drafts, even very rough drafts, are read as portals into vivid, energetic writing. Our job is to help you go through the portals and gain confidence that you are the right person to do this -- to delve into your own creativity. Your unique way is the way that's best for your material. Clive began his writing career among the Beat Generation in 1960s New York City, mentored by Allen Ginsberg, John Wieners and Diane Di Prima, who published his first book, Mainline to the Heart. Clive’s foundation in Modernism, and his MFA from Columbia University, have supported a 40+ year career as one of the premier creative writing teachers that is unrivalled. He is among the last writers who lived the experience of the culmination of Modernism and will bring that experience to the workshops. You will be the creator as Clive elicits your response to the prompts that will unleash your own writer’s muse. And you will get feedback and advice with far more understanding and support than is usual in writing classes. As one participant has written, "Thank you, Clive, for creating and holding the sacred space where decomposition of creative self-doubt can occur, and up-lifting, cultivation and refinement of one’s voice can rise up." Phone Clive at 510-508-5149 or email him at clive@matsonpoet.com for more information on the workshops. Check out Clive's website, www.matsonpoet.com to learn more about Clive and his writing.

Grab your writing utensil of choice, whatever you need for comfort, and your commitment to two hours of solid writing. Note: Some people have had trouble logging in to Meetup to attend the event. It's more important to me to have you here than have an accurate count of who's coming – or reduce the odds of being zoom bombed – so if you can't figure out how to jump through Meetup's hoops then just... [Click here to join the Zoom meeting](https://us04web.zoom.us/j/669489316) Order of biz: • 9:30-10: Introductions and socializing. We're a friendly group! • 10-12: Two hours ACTUAL WRITING. Work on your own project or ask us for a prompt or three. • 12-1: One hour read-back. Anyone who wants to gets five minutes to read from what they wrote. Please read only from what you wrote during the session. This avoids people comparing their first draft to someone's polished piece. NOTE: This is NOT a critique session. Please limit your feedback to clapping after each person reads. It IS a chance to read your work out loud, which is good for you and good for the group. Reading is voluntary, so don't get stressed. But try it sometime. It will make your writing better.

Connect to Zoom meetup by clicking on the link. Participants are welcome to join the Main Room starting at 16:00 EST/ 21:00 GMT. We encourage all participants to sign in promptly by 16:00 EST/21:00 GMT. This allows for sufficient time to generate the full attendee list and assign roles based on your language skill level. Please right-click on your image in the screen and select "Rename". Add your French Language Skill Level, ranging from F1 = Beginner to F5 = Advanced & F6= Exceptional, in front of your name. For example, "F5 - Jean" or "F3 - John". This is essential for helping organizers mix and match different skill levels and form pairs for one-on-one conversation sessions. The organizer will manage each pair using breakout rooms and will rotate partners every 15 minutes. In each session, half the time in French and half the time in English. Breakout rooms will be opened for conversation sessions at 16:15 EST /21:15 GMT. All individual sessions will conclude at 18:00 EST/23:00 GMT. Following which we will return to the Main Room to thank you for your participation and get your feedback for future improvements. Please be advised that this event is first-come-first-served. We look forward to seeing you. Thank you. Par exemple, "F5 - Jean" or "F3 - John". Merci

Join us on Saturday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking! • What we'll do Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 10AM on Saturday mornings. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. Shut Up & Write! Kingsdale Shopping Center
Shut Up & Write! Kingsdale Shopping Center
Greetings writers! Come down and join your fellow wordsmiths for one hour of uninterrupted writing time in the upper level of the Market District Supermarket in Upper Arlington. The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo. Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine. We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you. The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options. Parking is plentiful, free Wifi is provided as well as outlets for charging your devices, though they are somewhat limited, so plan accordingly. Show up as early as you like, or stay late. This group tends to socialize some, both before and after the alloted time, but this is not mandatory to you. Feel free to come and go as you please and late arrivals are welcome. The cafe may be noisy on occasion so headphones/ earbuds are reccommended as you see fit. Please try to RSVP if possible so that we may grab enough seats for all—the venue can be busy at times. Feel free to message me privately wth any questions and/ or concerns you may have. Happy writing!
