ZH3 Hash # 1721: The Gladiator-Chuggins 69th Birthday Hash
Hares are Gladiator and Merry Chuggins. Despite possessing only one braincell between them, these B.I.M.B.Os have somehow not only survived until adulthood, but made it to milestone birthdays! Chuggins is turning 30 and Gladiator will be... very slightly older. The important thing is that for this hash, their combined age will be a glorious 69! So come and celebrate with more shot stops than is really feasible and a karaoke afterparty. Meet at Mobility Carsharing by 25Hours Hotel Langstrasse. On-after at Old Gregory's Pub.

We'll meet at 1:50 pm to start at 2:00 pm.
There's a charge of CHF 5 for participating, which covers all you can drink beer/cider (and non-alcoholic alternatives) plus snacks afterwards.

If you are new, curious, and want to get out of the house, stretch your legs, talk shit, enjoy a drink, and hopefully a laugh, then here's what you need to know:
• We are a social running/walking group, physical fitness is not required, but a sense of humour is useful.
• The aim is to find the '*Beer Stop*' at the end of the '*trail*' and have fun.
• 'True Trail' is typically 4-7 km. Some will go less (especially those walking or walk/running), and some over-achieving fast runners will go further.
• The '*Hare*', which changes each event (along with location), cleverly lays the trail (typically with flour marks) so that everyone reaches the end at the same time.
• There is always a place to deposit your bag and sometimes a place to change.
• **After Trail**, we group for \~20-40 minutes for drinks, snacks, and some fun. This '*Circle*' is typically outside, so leave something warm in your bag in winter (and bring a flashlight when it's dark). If you don't want to stand around drinking afterwards, you can head home. We occasionally all go to a restaurant afterwards.
**Why bother leaving your warm & dry sofa?**
If you enjoy getting outside, being around people, and doing something a bit different, you will probably enjoy hashing. Exercise is important, and this is probably the least boring way to get it.
'Hashing' and the idea of some physical activity to work up a thirst, have been around for almost 90 years and there are groups (*Hashes*) in most major cities. Its humor and 'traditions' can be explored on the internet - **or you can just come along and find out.** *See you there.*
We are of many nationalities, all ages, full of misfits and idiots (at least there is no one taking themselves seriously!) and always welcome newbies 'Virgin Hashers' and visitors from other groups.

**Getting there:** Jump on the S24 toward Zug — catch it at **10:09 from Oerlikon** or **10:21 from Zürich HB**. Once on board, head to the **first 2nd-class carriage** in the direction of travel so we can all sit together. Full travel schedule is in the photos.
**What to bring:** Water, snacks, and sun/rain protection — you know the drill.

Die Sonne strahlt, die Tage sind lang - was gibt es Schoneres, als sich auf den Rollen auszutoben und den warmen Wind im Haar zu spüren? Die Greifensee Route ist angenehm zu fahren, hat wenig Steigung. Der Rundweg bietet wunderschöne Naturkulisse mit Blick auf Wasser, Schilflandschaften und Berge.
Nach der sportlichen Runde lassen Wir den Abend gemütlich ausklingen an einem Feuer, geniessen die Gemeinschaft und tauschen uns aus über das Thema: "Der Weg ist das Ziel."
Vormerkung: Der Anlass findet nur bei trockenen Strassen statt! Fals das Wetter nicht mitspielt weichen wir auf ein Alternativprogramm aus :)

Suonen and sunshine in Valais [19 km / +700m -800m / 6 hrs / T3]
Repeating one of my favourite routes last year: walking along historic irrigation channels (also known as Suonen), adventurous tunnels, larch forests, with a view of Glishorn, Matterhorn, the Leone Group and Mischabel – experience all this and more on the hike from Birgisch via Mund, the so-called saffron village, to Eggen (From SwitzerlandMobility). We will continue the hike through the sun-drenched slopes of Valais until we reach Ausserberg.

* 07:45 Meet under the Blue Angel at HB and go to the train platform

a Spring Hike!
🌸 Join Us for a Spring Hike Through History and Legend!
April is here, the hills are waking up, and there's no better way to celebrate the season than a fantastic day out in the fresh spring air! Come join us for a hike through one of the region's most scenic and storied landscapes — wildflowers in bloom, birdsong in the trees, and the smell of the forest after a spring shower. Pure bliss.
We'll set off from Pfungen and climb up to the Multberg, the views already magnificent as the countryside shakes off winter. From there we cross over to Berenberg — where we'll explore the atmospheric ruins of the former Monastery Berenberg, a truly magical spot steeped in centuries of history. From there, we descend into charming Wülflingen and push back up through lush spring forest trails towards Töss.
The highlight? Passing through the legendary Totentäli — a place wrapped in myth and mystery — now featuring a brand-new bridge over the ponds. With the spring light filtering through the trees, it promises to be simply breathtaking.
We'll finish in Töss, right at the Bus 1 stop, so getting home is a breeze.

Let's visit the famous Rappelswil monastery followed by a short-hike.
We will start at Pfaffikon SZ and finish at Uerikon and have a picnic lunch along the way.

While some are still meeting online, this is an in person event. Please note that we have attendees of all levels of speaking, including some native speakers. All are welcome!
Also, as we meet at the same time and place each week, many don’t RSVP on the app, so we will likely have more attendees than noted here.

Hike High Banks
Hike approx 4.0 miles at approx. 18 minute mile pace. Meet in front of the Nature Center.
Hike Blacklick Woods and The Canopy. Optional lunch after.
Over time I'm hoping to organize a hike to all the Franklin County Metro Parks. This is the first one so if you're interested jump in!
We'll start with the Canopy Walk, a cool feature of this park. Climb 100 stairs to the top - or take the elevator if stairs aren't your thing. At the top there are a bunch of things to play on - a rope bridge, a fireman pole that we can slide down - and more! About fifteen minutes there and we'll head to the natural trail, Buttonbush, Maple and Beech Trail for 2.2 miles then do a 1.7 mile loop on the paved Greenway Trail. We'll be passing our cars as we transition if you only want to do the first loop, or the second loop. Pace of around 3.5 mph but no one left behind.
If there is an interest we can grab lunch nearby afterward.

We'll hike 3.4 miles on the Killdeer and Yellowlegs Trails - both out and back gravel trails. If we want more mileage we can repeat an out and back. Pace of around 3.5 mph, no one left behind and those who want to go faster sure can!
As always optional lunch after.
