Seeing the Subject & Controlling the Image **Extended Photography Workshop** Date: Friday 15th of May Start: 17:00 Duration: approx. 4 hours ***Important, get in touch for a prepayment to secure your spot*** This workshop is created for early-stage photographers and people who are just starting out. I have designed it as a kickstart to your photography journey, helping you build solid foundations early on so you don’t hit a creative plateau after learning only classic rules of photography. The workshop is beginner-friendly and assumes no deep technical knowledge. At the same time starting with basics, we will be building foundation that will help you become even better than some of the professionals. We’ll start with the fundamentals of exposure and camera control, then move into composition and subject-focused photography. The goal is not just to know *how* to set your camera, but to understand why you make certain choices and how they support the image. Many beginners shoot from where they stand, reacting to scenes instead of observing them. This workshop helps you slow down, move with intention, and decide what the photograph is actually about before pressing the shutter. *** ##### What this workshop focuses on * Camera basics & exposure How your camera sensor works, what exposure really is, and how aperture, shutter speed, and ISO affect the image. Let’s make a leporello — a small zig-zag folding book — and fill it with drawings, paintings, sketches, words, patterns, or anything else that comes to mind. There’s no strict theme for this gathering. You can come with a special idea, or simply experiment and see where the process takes you. What to bring: • paper • ruler • scissors • your favorite drawing or painting materials The table will be covered, so feel free to bring acrylic paints as well. This year's Eurovision Song Contest is being held in Vienna, Austria, and the finals are scheduled for 16 May 2026. The [Scandinavian Club of Columbus](https://www.scandiclub.com/) will be co-hosting a viewing party for the final event in conjunction with Germania and the [Columbus Maennerchor](https://www.maennerchor.com/). The delayed televised viewing will take place at the Germania. The program will start around 2:00 p.m. and the singing will **start around 3:00 p.m**. There will be a **cash bar**, and those in attendance can **bring food or snacks** for themselves and or to share with the groups. **Suggested donation: $10/person** to help cover the cost of the venue.
