About us
"We don't read and write poetry because it's cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion."
The Dead Poets Society is a small, outdoor gathering for free-thinkers of all denominations. We gather atop Primrose Hill to share ideas that refuse to leave our heads and engage in the lost art of spirited, respectful discourse.
What We Do
Each member brings one piece of human expression that sparked something in them—a poem, a paragraph of prose, a lyric, a rap, a news article, or even a piece of music.
- The Share: Read a short excerpt or give us a brief recap.
- The Meat: Explain why it hit you. What did it challenge? What did it wake up inside you?
- The Exchange: We open the floor. We ask questions, push back gently, explore the context, and trace the idea across cultures and eras.
We actively encourage texts from every corner of the globe—if it offers a window into a world or perspective the rest of us haven't seen, bring it to the hill.
The Fine Print
- When: Every other Sunday at 11:00 AM.
- Where: Primrose Hill (exact grassy spot to be shared with attending members).
- Capacity: Strictly capped at 8 people per week. Small circles make for great conversations; large circles make for lectures.
- Provisions: I will be bringing a bounty of snacks and drinks to fuel the fire, which everyone is welcome to share. Attendees are also welcome to bring their own favorite morning treats, thermoses, or baked goods to add to the feast.
- The Vibe: Sharp, lively, and fiercely respectful. I’ll be acting as mediator (and resident O Captain, My Captain), ensuring everyone gets their airtime and the ideas keep flowing.
Bring a blanket, an open mind, and a piece of work that made you feel alive this week. Carpe diem!
