Glocalization: Part 3 of a 3 part series: Combined Women and Men's Circle

Details
(This third one is for both women and men to explore together what has been learned in parts 1 and 2. The first one was for women only. The second one was for men only.)
Glocalization – the use of local circles to manifest change in the world. Does it work?
Alice Walker spoke at the recent Auckland Readers’ & Writers’ Festival. She is best known for her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel The Color Purple. She is an activist and believes that developing compassion is a task each of us should undertake as a step to achieving world peace. She also advocates the manifestation of women’s circles (she says 7-11 people is ideal) with only two questions:
-
How does the world need to change?
-
What am I prepared to do about it?
-
How am I prepared to change/influence:
o Myself
o My family/friends
o My workplace
o My country
o The world
In addition, in the book “Occupy World Street, a Global Roadmap for radical Economic & Political Reform” written by Ross Jackson, he advocates ‘glocalization’ as a roadmap for change. Local groups sharing on a global basis.
In this ‘three week topic’, we are going to run the following circles:
-
June 12 – Women’s circle (women only)
-
June 19 – Men’s circle (men only)
-
June 26 – Coming together & sharing the output from weeks 1 and 2 and exploring the use of circles to facilitate change.
This is a slight diversion from our usual topics, but the purpose is still the same; exploring a topic, but in a more experiential manner. It is not intended to start a revolution :-)
Thanks to Kelly for suggesting and writing up this D & M meetup series.
