## From Expat to Amsterdammer?
A special-edition gathering for international residents who live in Amsterdam and are building a life here.
When does living somewhere begin to feel like belonging?
You may have come to Amsterdam for work, study, love, adventure—or without knowing how long you would stay. At first, the city may have felt unfamiliar or temporary. Then perhaps something changed: a friendship, a familiar street, learning the language, becoming part of a neighbourhood, or simply being recognised somewhere.
During this special edition of Deep Talk, we will explore what can transform a place where we live into a place that feels, in some way, like ours.
When do you stop feeling like a visitor? What helps you connect with a city and its people? Can you feel like an Amsterdammer without feeling Dutch? And does belonging happen through time—or through participation?
“Becoming an Amsterdammer” does not mean leaving another identity behind. You may belong to several places at once, or feel differently connected to each of them. We will begin with our own experiences and listen to the many different ways a city can—or cannot—become home.
You decide how personal you want to be. No special knowledge or previous experience with Deep Talk is needed.
### What to expect
- Self-exploration: We begin with our own experiences.
