Which looms larger - climate or debt?

Welcome to Deep Thinkers, 2025! This first event is just a few days away, so RSVP as soon as you can.
Now that the Trump Administration has officially begun, let's look at two factors that may loom largest during his tenure.
On one hand, given disasters like the recent wildfires here, as well as hurricanes, tornadoes and floods around the country, coupled with the resulting loss of insurers, is climate change (which Trump has labeled a hoax) an inconvenient truth (to borrow a phrase)?
On the other hand, will the looming debt force the administration to confront a public that must finally deal with insufficient funds that are necessary to finance a sociak safety net and/or immense defense budget? Are they irreconcilable?
In other words, who will rule the day - scientists or economists?
