VIewpoints on death and how you live...

This is a heavy (or deep) one. As some of you know, I am a big movie buff, and there are two scenes that have stayed with me for years:

As I near the final curtain call, I wrestle with nihilism and what it all means. But I also find that my thoughts on death reflect on my feelings on injustice and empathy.

It's easy to become inured to the awful news that seems to permeate our waking hours, and I thought it'd be interested to hear from other Deep Thinkers about how their views on death and mortality affect them.

From prison reform to gun control to foreign aid - just to name a few - I keep coming back to how I regard death and mortality as drivers to my reaction to policies and current events.

So I ask, what motivates your sense of fairness, justice, compassion, etc.?
And is this quote accurate?
"The opposite of good is not evil, the opposite of good is indifference."

This is a broad subject but hopefully we'll have plenty to discuss and some great insights.
