Question: So, what is underwater hockey anyway?
Answer: Underwater hockey is a non-contact sport where two teams of six face off at the bottom of a pool, swimming and diving to try to shoot a weighted puck into the opponent's goal.
Q: Yikes, sounds challenging! Do I have to be in good shape to join?
A: Not at all! Underwater hockey is open to everyone, from "What is fitness?" to "I'm a decorated Olympic athlete."
Q: I know that size matters in some sports. Does size matter here?
A: Nope! Underwater hockey allows large players and small players to play on a level playing field.
Q: What about gender and age?
A: All genders and ages are welcome!
Q: Hmm...I want to try this out, but I don't know how to play...
A: No worries! We will teach you everything you need to learn. It is an easy sport to learn.
Q: Do I need any special equipment? Do I need to purchase any of this equipment?
A: Players wear fins, mask, snorkel, protective gloves, and headgear. They use a short stick to maneuver the puck. All you need to bring is a swimsuit, towel, and water bottle; we will provide the rest.
Q: I'm really hooked now...are you part of a league?
A: We are hoping there are leagues soon. For now, we play in tournaments all over the country, from Washington, D.C. to Boston to Los Angeles to Florida. It is a great opportunity to meet new people from all across the globe! It's like one big, happy underwater hockey family!
