Software defined radio workshop

Details

Don't have an Software Defined Radio (SDR) but want to learn anyways? Come out and ride along and pickup some basics.

Software Defined Radio Workshop is a easy introduction to the world of Software Defined Radio (SDR). Using a laptop with a cheap $20 TV Tuner learn what can be accomplished and heard on the airwaves. Listen to aircraft transponders, unencrypted FM communications of taxi and towing companies, and NOAA weather satellite communications, etc. This class is designed for beginners with SDR but some experience with the Linux command line and running simple commands.
Bring a Pi, or a laptop running Linux or a machine capable of running a Linux Virtual Machine with a *compatible Software Defined Radio.

A compatible SDR is one of these:

  • HackRF
  • BladeRF
  • RTL-SDR
  • This can be a NooElec SDR or something similar.
