About us
Denton Maker Center is in a beautiful converted vintage house just north of the Denton Square with a convenient parking lot offering workshops, community events, and studio/tool rentals. With a variety of spaces and equipment available to members, DMC provides excellent spaces to support creative making in the North Texas region. There are a variety of local makers that also have their handmade creations available for sale as well.

Stacking Rings
Denton Maker Center, 728 North Elm Street, Denton, TX, USIn this beginner friendly workshop, students will learn basic metalsmithing skills like torch soldering, forming and texturing to make an array of ring bands. You will have the option to polish your rings or give them an antique finish. We will primarily work in copper and brass, with the option to purchase silver wire during the workshop. Students should bring their aprons and masks.

Leather Feather Earrings by Dii Dii Crossett
Denton Maker Center, 728 North Elm Street, Denton, TX, USIn this class we will be making earrings by cutting leather into the shape of feathers. You have the option to add authentic turquoise beads, bone beads, and/or ethically sourced turkey feathers (from turkey’s killed by my father to provide for our family.) I plan to share about my Indigenous heritage while we work on this project!
Aaniin, Dii Dii ndizhinkaaz. Odawa kwe ndaaw. In Anishinaabemowin this means, “Hello, I am called Dii Dii. I am an Odawa woman.” I am a proud descendant of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians. I earned my BFA in Studio Art from Texas Woman’s University in 2022. I create organic sculptures that raise awareness about injustices in Indigenous communities, mental health rights, and LGBTQIA+ equality. In my free time I love singing, playing the guitar, spending time in nature and loving on my German Shepherds- Awenasa (My Home) and Aanzheniinh (Angel.)

Hand Dyed Silk Scarf by Ally Hardick
Denton Maker Center, 728 North Elm Street, Denton, TX, USWe will be hand dyeing an 11 x 60 silk scarf with a palette of powdered acid dyes. Using the traditional Japanese technique of Shibori, the art of dyeing fabric using intricate folding and binding techniques, you will create a one of a kind wearable work of Art! Wear clothes that you do not mind getting stained, I recommend an apron.
Hello, I’m Ally! I’ve been an artist my entire life, self taught in multiple mediums, currently obsessed with Tie Dye techniques. I also paint and crochet and am an avid organic gardener. Im looking forward to sharing the silk dyeing with you. You will go home with a beautiful one of a kind piece of wearable art.

Nerdy Terrarium by David Bayon
Denton Maker Center, 728 North Elm Street, Denton, TX, USIn this beginner-friendly Nerdy Terrarium Workshop, students will learn how to design and build a small, self-contained terrarium while incorporating miniature figures inspired by pop culture, fantasy, sci-fi, and gaming. Participants will be guided through the full terrarium process, including layering drainage, soil, and moss, selecting and placing plants, and composing a visually balanced miniature scene. All core materials will be provided, including a glass vessel, substrate layers, plants, and decorative elements, with optional add-on miniatures available to customize each build. By the end of the class, students will leave with a completed terrarium and the foundational skills to continue creating their own miniature worlds at home.
Students are encouraged to bring a small figurine or miniature (approximately 1–3 inches tall) to incorporate into their terrarium, such as a Gundam, D&D character, Pokémon, or other favorite collectible. If preferred, a selection of optional miniatures and add-on pieces will be available for purchase at the workshop. No prior experience is necessary, and all core materials and tools will be provided.
David Bayon is a Denton-based artist, designer, and community organizer known for blending pop culture and miniature art into interactive experiences. As the creator behind Thug Emporium and co-organizer of the Denton Diorama Collective, his work spans custom diecast builds, action figure design, and public installations. His workshops focus on making creativity approachable and fun, encouraging participants to build their own miniature worlds through hands-on design and storytelling.
