About us
Denton Maker Center is in a beautiful converted vintage house just north of the Denton Square with a convenient parking lot offering workshops, community events, and studio/tool rentals. With a variety of spaces and equipment available to members, DMC provides excellent spaces to support creative making in the North Texas region. There are a variety of local makers that also have their handmade creations available for sale as well.

Copper Fold-Formed Earrings with James Thurman
Denton Maker Center, 728 North Elm Street, Denton, TX, USFold-forming is a quick but surprising way of shaping and texturing metal. By hammering on folded metal in particular ways, a wide range of shapes can be easily created. For this workshop, each student will have a chance to create their own pair of copper fold-formed earrings with silver ear wires. All tools and materials are included. No experience is necessary!

Crafting an Otsu-e Omamori (Oni Protection Charm)
Denton Maker Center, 728 North Elm Street, Denton, TX, USIn this workshop we will create a small Otsu-e Omamori charm to hang near the entry of your home. We will first wood burn and paint the wood and then use cord to create a traditional Japanese omamori knot to hang the charm. This workshop will cover basic wood burning techniques and how to make smooth lines as well as how to correct mistakes when they occur. The students will not need to bring anything with them, however, if they would like to bring their own wood burning tool or paints that is perfectly fine.

Stacking Rings
Denton Maker Center, 728 North Elm Street, Denton, TX, USIn this beginner friendly workshop, students will learn basic metalsmithing skills like torch soldering, forming and texturing to make an array of ring bands. You will have the option to polish your rings or give them an antique finish. We will primarily work in copper and brass, with the option to purchase silver wire during the workshop. Students should bring their aprons and masks.

Zines Can Change the World: A 101 Workshop
Denton Maker Center, 728 North Elm Street, Denton, TX, USLearn about the magic of making YOUR unique voice heard through ZINES! What is a zine? Pronounced ‘ZEEN’ like the end of ‘magazine,’ they are tiny booklets you can create your own stories in! We’ll go over the 8-page mini zine folding technique using only one sheet of paper. You’ll be self-publishing in no time with Orion’s help over the course of this 3-hour workshop for all ages, kids especially welcome! All supplies are provided, including simple printer paper, scissors, markers, stickers, scraps and more. Bring yourself and a friend to join the zine revolution! This month, the zine making workshop will focus on how zines can change the world around us in positive ways. You can use zines to start conversations about difficult topics, and help the world become a better, kinder place! Join us in the zine revolution!
