In this class we will be making earrings by cutting leather into the shape of feathers. You have the option to add authentic turquoise beads, bone beads, and/or ethically sourced turkey feathers (from turkey’s killed by my father to provide for our family.) I plan to share about my Indigenous heritage while we work on this project!

Aaniin, Dii Dii ndizhinkaaz. Odawa kwe ndaaw. In Anishinaabemowin this means, “Hello, I am called Dii Dii. I am an Odawa woman.” I am a proud descendant of the Little Traverse Bay Bands of Odawa Indians. I earned my BFA in Studio Art from Texas Woman’s University in 2022. I create organic sculptures that raise awareness about injustices in Indigenous communities, mental health rights, and LGBTQIA+ equality. In my free time I love singing, playing the guitar, spending time in nature and loving on my German Shepherds- Awenasa (My Home) and Aanzheniinh (Angel.)
