Details

Learn how ancient Mediterranean jewelry was made while making your own pair of earrings. Seen recently in The Odyssey movie, Penelope’s earrings were made by the “coining” process, where a ball of metal is stamped into a die (the same way ancient coins were made). In this workshop, each student will carve their own steel die and stamp several blanks to create their own earrings (or a pendant or charm if you prefer). Pewter will be provided but sterling silver can be purchased from the instructor.
Students should have patience and good attention to detail but do not require prior jewelry experience.
Students should bring a wearable magnifier for detail work.
