Ceramics Class: Pipe Decorating

In this 2-hour, hands-on class, you’ll explore the creative side of ceramics by glazing and customizing a pre-made pipe with clay molds. Learn to create texture, sculpt unique accents, and experiment with color. When the pipe is complete, you will receive an email or text notifying you the pipe is ready for pickup at the Denver Art Society and you'll have your very own handcrafted, one-of-a-kind smoking pipe — made, glazed, and designed entirely by you!

No prior experience needed — learn everything you need to know to make a beautiful piece!

You Will Learn:

• How to apply and layer glazes for depth and color variation
• Techniques for creating and attaching clay molds
• Tips for designing a cohesive and unique ceramic piece
• Best practices for finishing and preparing your work for firing

🔶 Workshop Timeline 🔶
1️⃣ Prep: Each ceramic pipe is handmade before class.
2️⃣ Class Day: In a 2-hour session, you’ll glaze and decorate your pipe however you’d like.
3️⃣ First Firing: Pieces go into the kiln for their first round of firing.
4️⃣ Week 2: Each pipe gets two coats of clear glaze to make it shine and waterproof.
5️⃣ Second Firing: Back into the kiln for the final fire-up!
6️⃣ Week 4: Your finished piece will be ready for pickup at the Denver Art Society.
