"Ran" @Alamo Drafthouse Sloans Lake

Nothing like an old Japanese film to start your Saturday. Alamo Drafthouse is playing Akira Kurosawa's Ran for its 40th Anniversary! Let's go watch it.

Ran is Kurosawa's adaptation of King Lear and it's one of the films that I've been meaning to watch for the longest time. The cinematography is supposedly spectacular and from the screenshots, it looks amazing and truly worthy of the famous Shakespeare's story about power and corruption.

Synopsis: In Medieval Japan, an elderly warlord retires, handing over his empire to his three sons. However, he vastly underestimates how the new-found power will corrupt them and cause them to turn on each other... and him.
