"The Eel" @The Sie Film Center for Ravishing Radiance

Details
Omg The Sie is doing actual obscure arthouse picks and not some campy American B-movie from the 80s?? The movie gods have heard all of our silent cries!
I know of the director Shohei Imamura because of his apprenticeship under Ozu, the lord and master of cinema. Imamura is known for dealing with matters of sex and sexuality so I'm sure we'll have something to chew on long after the credits roll! He's the only director from Japan to have won the Palm D'or twice for The Ballad of Narayama and this film.
Synopsis: A businessman kills his adulterous wife and is sent to prison. After the release, he opens a barbershop and meets new people, talking almost to no one except an eel he befriended while in prison.
I know it's a late screening but I think it'll be so worth it. Do whatever business you have to do during the day and join me for a late one. Think of it as the button on your eventful Friday.
