We are so very honored to be hosting our very first “DCC Presents” event at The Sie Film Center! Thank you to Keith, Russel, and all the Sie staff who helped make this collaboration happen!
What a way to start it with the seminal classic Sunset Boulevard, one of the most beloved, iconic, and frequently referenced entries in the film canon. It tells the tale of an aging silent film queen (Gloria Swanson) who refuses to accept that her stardom has ended. So she hires a young screenwriter (William Holden) to help set up her movie comeback. It not only deals with themes of death and dying, but also serves as a biting critique of Hollywood’s self-established image as the “dream factory”.
This event will be hosted by our very own Jackson, who will also lead a post-film discussion, so stick around after the screening for an in-depth discourse on this film.
