Before you RSVP, please:

We have a small number of seats for a free advance screening of Ha-Chan, Shake Your Booty!, a comedy/drama/sci-fi/romance (whew!) directed by Josef Kubota Wladyka. Active members of the club--those who attend our regular events--will get priority for the seats. When you RSVP, you will be added to the wait list, and I will move people from the wait list to the "going" list by hand. Please RSVP only if you are sure you can attend.

The studio reps have asked for our guest list by Monday morning. If you are on the "going" list on Monday morning, we will expect you at the movie on Monday evening. Again, please RSVP only if you are sure you can attend.

Arrive by 6:30 for the 7:00 screening. Skip the line if there is one, and check in with the studio reps. They will check your name off their list and direct you to your seat. (They usually seat everyone in the club together, but not always.) Don't be late! If you arrive after 6:30, you could lose your reserved seat.

I will not be there, so I do not have anything planned for after the film. If you would like to get together to talk about it, use the comments below to coordinate.

Set against Tokyo’s vibrant ballroom- and Latin-dance scene, HA-CHAN, SHAKE YOUR BOOTY! follows Haru (Rinko Kikuchi), whose life once revolved around dancing with her husband, Luis. After a devastating loss leaves her isolated and consumed by grief, her friends encourage her to return to the studio. There, an unexpected connection with a new instructor begins to rekindle her passion for dance—and for life. Colorful, heartfelt, and occasionally surreal, the film explores grief, desire, friendship, and the courage it takes to rediscover joy..
