Metta-Vipassana Daylong
Details
Join us for a day-long retreat dedicated to the practice of Metta-Vipassana, learning to observe the mind with the boundless warmth of the heart. By integrating the Four Foundations of Mindfulness with the Brahmavihāras (kindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity), we cultivate an unwavering presence to meet the immediacy of moment-to-moment experience. As the body settles and the mind softens, intuitive wisdom emerges, opening to meaningful possibilities.
Drawing inspiration from both the "Progress of Insight" (Mahasi Sayadaw) and "Natural Awareness" (Sayadaw Tejaniya), Dave Smith will offer a balanced approach that blends structured mindfulness with relaxed, open awareness. Held primarily in a supportive container of silence, the retreat provides space for spiritual emotions to unfold naturally.
Retreat Structure
- Guided Practice: Alternating periods of sitting and walking meditation instruction.
- Dharma Teachings: Instructions for combining Metta (heart-centered practices) with Vipassana (insight).
- Interactive Support: Facilitated small-group reflections and Q&A sessions to process insights as they arise.
