For at least a few months, Denver’s Radically Open Connection meetup (Formerly Radically Open Embodied Relating) is shifting to a new format: Joy.Academy. Come get a little better at generating joy for yourself and others! Find deeper connection, new friends, and new insights about what makes you and others tick.
Meetups will include small group sessions, discussion, and somatic experiencing practices, as we become each other's teachers and students at Joy.Academy.
If you've come before, we'll be doing similar shit, but different ;)

In March 2026, we are hosting a 6 day / 6 night retreat at Cascada Elysiana in Costa Rica for people interested in cultivating Radically Open Relationships through proven practices for maintaining a strong sense of self in a relationship where neither partner hides their thoughts and feelings. This meetup will include an overview of the exercises and outline of the workshop, and space to ask questions, feel into the fit, and meet us live.
This virtual session is a chance to explore whether the Radically Open Relating retreat is right for you.
### This Q&A is for you if
- You are in a relationship, whether monogamous, poly, open, or otherwise non traditional relationship and are curious about the retreat
- You are single, but the retreat speaks to you and you want to know if it still makes sense to attend
- You have questions about the intensity of the work, accessibility, or logistics
You do not need to have filled out the interest form before joining, and there is no commitment to attend the retreat.

- How we work with embodied honesty, non withholding, and grief as a tool

Radically Open Relating: A Costa Rica Retreat for Radically Open Relationships

March 2nd-9th, 2026, we are hosting a 6 day / 6 night retreat at Cascada Elysiana in Costa Rica for people in non-traditional relationships of all kinds. Poly, open, relationship anarchy, quietly curious monogamy, and undefined connections that do not fit a box.
Couples, triads, singles, and friends who are “kind of together” are all welcome. There is no preferred format and no gold star for fitting a mold. The common thread is a desire to relate with more honesty, more choice, and more aliveness.
Across the week we will explore:
- How to tell the truth about what you want, even when it feels risky
- How to stay with jealousy, anger, fear, and grief without shutting down or exploding
- How to relate from self respect rather than self abandonment
- How to use embodied practice and expanded states of consciousness to listen more deeply to yourself and to each other
This is not a retreat where anyone claims to be an expert on every form of non-traditional relationship.
Tony, Avery, and Dan are experienced in something different. They create containers for embodied honesty, somatic awareness, and peer led exploration. The retreat will also include guest contributors who bring their own lived experience of non traditional relating. Together, you will build a temporary community where it is normal to speak openly about desire, limits, fear, and longing.
### Who this is for
This retreat may be a fit for you if:
- You are in a polyamorous, open, or otherwise non traditional relationship and want a dedicated space to do deeper work together
- You are single and want clarity about what you truly want in relationships before you invite others into it
- You are navigating jealousy, resentment, or fear of abandonment and want practical, embodied ways to work with it
- You are curious about how grief, honesty, and expanded states of consciousness can support real change in how you love
All genders and sexual orientations are welcome. This retreat is explicitly welcoming of LGBTQIA+ participants and a wide range of relationship structures.
### What to expect
This is a workshop in a beautiful place, rather than a casual holiday. You can expect:
- Daily group sessions focused on radical honesty, non withholding, and embodied practice
- Small group and partner exercises to explore your patterns in real time
- Peer led learning and space for Life Stories and hot seat work
- Time in nature at an eco retreat centre with a 190 foot waterfall on the land
- Evenings will have optional peer-led opportunities, containers for expanded states, and freedom to rest, integrate, and connect informally
There will likely be tears, raised voices, silence, laughter, awkwardness, and relief. The space is designed to support the full range of human emotion with care.

Location: Cascada Elysiana, near Dominical, Costa Rica
Dates: March 2–9, 2026
Participants will fly into San José (SJO) and travel by shared taxi to the retreat centre. Support with ride sharing will be offered.
