8.5 miles RT with 2,800' elevation gain.
Another beautiful classic hike in the Boulder area leaving from NCAR. We'll go up the high-stepping Fern Canyon trail and back down the Bear Peak West Ridge trail along with the Bear Canyon trail. For the summit ridge, there are some polished rocks and a few awkward moves needed for the last 50'. There are plenty of unique views along the way.
Please bring your pack, layers, fluids, snacks, and good footwear. Sun protection will be good to have also. I don't expect any lingering snow.
The parking lot is large. I'm not sure if the restrooms are open on Saturday or not. If you want to carpool from your area, please comment.
After, we could go to the Southern Sun Brewery.
