Join the Animal Law Program for a lunchtime advocacy talk with Amber Canavan!

Amber, Associate Director of Vegan Campaigns at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), will discuss the findings of PETA’s latest white paper on the failures of cage-free eggs and detail PETA’s action plan for advocating for farmed animals. Consumers choose “cage-free” eggs believing they’re supporting a kinder food system, and many animal advocates have spent significant time and resources working on cage-free policies and laws, yet PETA’s recent white paper raises serious questions that the reality behind the label falls far short of both consumer and animal advocates’ expectations. Drawing on extensive research and firsthand investigations, the report uncovers how many of the celebrated benefits of cage-free systems are marginal at best, and gloss over the little-known welfare trade-offs inherent in any factory farming system- from increased rates of painful keel bone fractures, cannibalism, and more.

Lunch will be provided! Register here.
