Calling All Outdoorsy Lovers!
Get Ready for an Epic Camping Adventure!
Hey everyone, get your tents and hiking boots ready because we're heading out for an unforgettable weekend camping trip near Winfield! My husband and I stumbled upon this amazing camping spot, and we just have to share it with you all.

Why Winfield?
Winfield is like a hidden treasure. We've been visiting this place for years, and it never gets old. The views are stunning, and it's super close to a river. Plus, it's surrounded by awesome trailheads, including some challenging 14er trails!

The Plan
- Friday Night: We'll arrive early to sang the best camping spot (did I mention it's FREE?) and set up camp. Get ready for some campfire stories and s'mores under the stars.
- Saturday: Hiking time! We're tackling Hope Pass via Sheep Gulch trail @6:30 AM. It's a 4.9 mile hike with a 2,644 foot elevation gain. Think of it as a leg workout with a view! For those feeling extra adventurous, you can hike up to Mt. Hope, a 13er! And if you're a total mountain goat, there are plenty of other trails around to explore.
- Sunday: Pack up, say goodbye to the mountains (for now!), and head home with a ton of amazing memories.

What to Bring
Camping Gear:
- Tent (unless you're planning to sleep under the stars, which is cool too!)
- Sleeping bag (it gets chilly at night!)
- Camp chairs (for maximum relaxation)
- Cooking supplies (we're gonna feast!)
- Headlamp or flashlight (for navigation in the dark)

Water Gear:
- Stand-Up Paddleboards (SUPs), because Clear Creek Reservoir is so close

Hiking Gear
- Water (duh!)
- Electrolytes (to keep those muscles happy)
- Energy Foods (trail mix, energy bars, gummy bears - whatever fuels your fire!)
- Hiking boots (save your angles!)
- Hiking poles (optional, but they're like having extra legs on the uphill)
- Sunscreen and a hat (protect that beautiful face
- Sunglasses (protect those peepers)

Food:
- Bring plenty of food to cook! We're talking breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Get creative with your campfire cooking!

Pets:
- Bring your best four-legged friends!

Road Conditions:
- To reach the camping spot/Winfield area from highway 24, be prepared for a dirt road suitable for two-wheel drive vehicles. Our compact SUV managed the journey without a hitch. For those interested in tackling more challenging trails, such as the iconic 14ers like La Plata Peak, you have a couple of options. You can hike directly from Winfield to the TH. Alternatively, a shorter drive from Winfield to the TH is possible, but this leg necessitates a four-wheel drive vehicle due to the rougher terrain.

To ensure you can easily find our camping spot, I'll be setting up a clearly visible banner along the dirt road. This should help you locate us with ease upon arrival.

Get Ready for Fun!
This is going to be an awesome and fun adventure. So, if you're ready to breathe in some fresh mountain air, challenge yourself with a hike, and make some new friends, RSVP now! Let's make this weekend one for the books!

Happy Trails!
