Hello Outdoorsy Lovers! Get Ready for an Amazing Backpacking Trip!
Hey everyone! I've got some exciting news for all you nature lovers. I'm planning a backpacking trip to the stunning Indian Peaks Wilderness area, specifically the Buchanan BZ area, and I'd love for you to join us!

I've heard this hike is challenging but incredibly rewarding, with views that will take your breath away. We'll be heading to Gourd Lake, a spot I'm really excited to explore.

Here's the plan:
Destination: Gourd Lake, Indian Peaks Wilderness
Trailhead: Monarch Lake TH
Distance: A little over 8 miles to Gourd Lake (16.50 miles round trip)
Elevation Gain: 2,772 feet
Duration: One night
Dates: Saturday, July 19 2025 - Sunday, July 20, 2025
Start Time: 6:00 AM on Saturday
Return: Sunday (no set time - let's relax and soak in the beauty!)

What to Expect:
This is a challenging hike, so be prepared for some uphill trekking! But trust me, the views of Gourd Lake and the surrounding wilderness will be worth every step. We'll set up camp on Saturday, enjoy a relaxing evening under the stars, and head back to Monarch Lake on Sunday at our own pace. The goal is to connect with nature and enjoy the peace and quiet of the mountains.
