Hey Outdoorsy Lovers! Let's Conquer Mountains Together!

Hey everyone! Are you itching to get outside and explore some amazing mountains? My husband and I have been feeling the same way, and therefore I figured we could also climb some 13ers throughout Colorado.

A while ago my husband and I hiked Mt. Sniktau and absolutely loved it! We want to share this awesome experience with you all.

Why Mt. Sniktau?

Mt. Sniktau is a fantastic hike for a few reasons:

  • Great Training: It's a good workout that will help us build our strength and stamina for tackling those bigger mountains.
  • Beautiful Scenery: The views from the ridge are incredible!
  • Manageable Challenge: While it's not a walk in the park, it's definitely achievable and a great step up from easier hikes.

### - Hike Details:

  • Trail: Mt. Sniktau
  • Starting Point: Loveland Pass
  • Distance: 3.7 miles (out and back)
  • Elevation Gain: 1,584 feet
  • What to Expect: We'll start with a steep climb and then walk along a stunning ridge to reach the summit.

### - Gear Up for Winter Hiking!

Since it's still winter in the mountains, it's important to be prepared. Here's a list of essential gear:

  • Warm Coat: To keep you cozy in the cold.
  • Snowshoes (Possible): Depending on the snow conditions, we might need these. Keep an eye on the weather forecast!
  • Micro Spikes: These will give you extra traction on icy patches.
  • Gloves & Hat: Essential for keeping your hands and head warm.
  • Sunglasses: The sun can be intense at high altitudes, especially with snow reflection.
  • Warm Jacket: An extra layer in case you get cold.
  • Food: Pack plenty of snacks to keep your energy up!
  • Backpack: To carry all your gear.
  • Snow Gaiters: To keep snow out of your boots.
  • Boots or Mountaineer boots
  • Fleece face mask: To protect your face from the freezing cold.
