Hey Outdoorsy Lovers! Let's Conquer Mountains Together!
Hey everyone! Are you itching to get outside and explore some amazing mountains? My husband and I have been feeling the same way, and therefore I figured we could also climb some 13ers throughout Colorado.
A while ago my husband and I hiked Mt. Sniktau and absolutely loved it! We want to share this awesome experience with you all.
Why Mt. Sniktau?
Mt. Sniktau is a fantastic hike for a few reasons:
- Great Training: It's a good workout that will help us build our strength and stamina for tackling those bigger mountains.
- Beautiful Scenery: The views from the ridge are incredible!
- Manageable Challenge: While it's not a walk in the park, it's definitely achievable and a great step up from easier hikes.
### - Hike Details:
- Trail: Mt. Sniktau
- Starting Point: Loveland Pass
- Distance: 3.7 miles (out and back)
- Elevation Gain: 1,584 feet
- What to Expect: We'll start with a steep climb and then walk along a stunning ridge to reach the summit.
### - Gear Up for Winter Hiking!
Since it's still winter in the mountains, it's important to be prepared. Here's a list of essential gear:
- Warm Coat: To keep you cozy in the cold.
- Snowshoes (Possible): Depending on the snow conditions, we might need these. Keep an eye on the weather forecast!
- Micro Spikes: These will give you extra traction on icy patches.
- Gloves & Hat: Essential for keeping your hands and head warm.
- Sunglasses: The sun can be intense at high altitudes, especially with snow reflection.
- Warm Jacket: An extra layer in case you get cold.
- Food: Pack plenty of snacks to keep your energy up!
- Backpack: To carry all your gear.
- Snow Gaiters: To keep snow out of your boots.
- Boots or Mountaineer boots
- Fleece face mask: To protect your face from the freezing cold.
