Join us for an unforgettable evening of literary exploration as we dive into Fernanda Melchor’s haunting and electrifying novel, Hurricane Season. Set in a rural Mexican town gripped by violence, superstition, and desperation, this visceral narrative unravels the mystery surrounding the death of the local witch—and the lives shattered in its wake.

What to Expect:
• A deep dive into Melchor’s hypnotic prose and nonlinear storytelling
• Discussion of themes: gender violence, poverty, myth, and social decay
• Reflections on narrative voice, structure, and translation (by Sophie Hughes)
• Excellent food, drinks, and a safe space for bold conversation

Spoiler Alert: We’ll be discussing the entire novel—including its brutal revelations and final chapter. Come prepared to unpack the emotional and political weight of Melchor’s masterpiece.

Let’s weather the storm together.

Our book club meets every fourth Thursday. Join us and help decide which book to read for our February 5, 2026, discussion.
