DENVER WRITERS BOOK CLUB: Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut
Details
It’s time to dive deep into the world of speculative fiction and the legacy of magnificent writers. We will be discussing a heavy hitter, Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut.
Whether you’re here for the non-linear time-traveling, the scathing critique of war, or just to see if Billy Pilgrim has finally found a moment of peace on Tralfamadore, this is going to be a terrific session.
The Vibe: Casual, insightful, and slightly irreverent—just like Kurt.
Discussion Points:
- The concept of "unstuck in time,"
- Vonnegut’s unique brand of fatalism versus humor.
- How the novel's structure mirrors the fragmentation of trauma.
- "All moments, past, present and future, always have existed, always will exist."
If you haven't finished the book yet, don't worry—you’ve already finished it in the future, and you're just starting it in the past. We'll see you there! 🛸
Note: The Walnut Room has free adjacent parking.
Our book club meets every fourth Thursday. New attendees will be eligible to select our next book.
