Join us for some excellent discussion and delicious Brews at Strage Craft Beer Co! This week we are discussing Diwali—the Festival of Lights—and what it teaches about the triumph of light, freedom, and joy.
Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is one of the world’s most radiant celebrations. At its heart, it marks the triumph of light over darkness, wisdom over ignorance, and good over evil. While Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs observe it in different ways, they share in the imagery of lamps and radiance as symbols of truth and renewal.
For Hindus, Diwali recalls stories like Rama’s return to Ayodhya, Krishna’s victory over Narakasura, and the worship of Lakshmi, goddess of prosperity. Jains honor it as the day Lord Mahavira attained liberation, while Sikhs celebrate Bandi Chhor Divas, when Guru Hargobind Ji was freed from imprisonment along with 52 princes. Across traditions, the festival proclaims freedom, purity, and spiritual light.
Celebrations bring these themes to life through the lighting of lamps, colorful rangoli art, fireworks, feasts, and the sharing of sweets. Families gather for prayer, reflection, and joy, filling homes and communities with warmth and brightness. Diwali is both a sacred time of devotion and a festive reminder that light always finds its way through the dark.
We’ll bring a festive spirit to the brewery —exploring stories of Diwali and of course - diving into some amazing beers that can only be described as a festival celebration in your mouth!
